Blwyddyn 6

Croeso i flwyddyn chwech

Homework is given on a Monday (Spelling) and Wednesday (maths) and is based on activities or concepts that the children have been working on throughout the week. Both pieces of homework need to be handed in every Friday. Times Tables Rock Stars and Bug Club homework will be set on alternate Fridays to be completed over the weekend. Please could you provide your child with a homework book or an A4 file for their homework sheets.

Reading books

The children need to ensure that they bring their reading books and personal reading record books to school every day. The children participate in Guided Reading Sessions through the week, and we encourage the pupils to read at home to an adult on a regular basis, at least once a week. We also encourage parents to write comments in the reading record books when your child has read either their school reading book or other materials such as magazines, newspapers, library books etc.

Year 6 visit Pembrey Village Library every other Thursday. Please ensure that your child has their book to change on this day.

P.E. lessons

P.E. will take place every Tuesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor) – please would you ensure that your child has their gym kit on these days (plain white T-shirt and navy shorts/tracksuit trousers). For your child’s safety, no jewellery is to be worn and long hair should be tied back.  Trainers are not allowed in during dance and gymnastics lessons in the hall. Lightweight black pumps are permitted.  Please ensure that sensible footwear is provided on Thursday i.e. netball - trainers, rugby – togs (preferably) or trainers.
