Rights Respecting Committee

Article 2: All children have these rights no matter what!  Mascot 1

The Pembrey Rights Respecting Committee are our ambassadors for children’s rights. It is their responsibility to make sure that all pupils at Pembrey School are aware of the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) and have this charter displayed in their classes.

They attend regular meetings where they discuss ‘the right of the month’ and take any important information back to their classes.  With the help of RENA our Rights Respecting Rainbow mascot, they also try to encourage pupils to use the language of rights and remind children of their rights in the classroom and on the yard using our class and playground charters.

It is essential that all children are aware of their rights in school and how to respect their rights and the rights of their peers. In order to do this, the Rights Committee encourage all children to follow the school’s core values of

  • Dedication
  • Collaboration
  • Respect
  • Care
  • Friendship
  • Trust
  • Kindness
  • Responsibility
  • Perseverance
  • Honesty

As well as raising awareness of children’s rights in our own community, The Rights Committee help to support UNICEF campaigns every year to raise money to children across the world who don’t have access to all their rights and aren’t as lucky as we are here in Pembrey School. In the past they have helped to raise money to provide water to children in third world countries and more recently to help Syrian refugee children.
